CSIM has over $340 billion in assets under management consisting of money funds, index funds, active bond and equity funds. A majority of these funds are managed by CSIM with several strategies sub-advised by third party asset managers. In addition to the proprietary funds, CSIM fund administration is responsible for the accounting and administration oversight of the Bank Collective Trust Funds and an offshore money fund.

Product and Services

The Company offers a broad range of products to address individuals’ varying investment and financial needs. Examples of these product offerings include:

  • Brokerage – an array of brokerage accounts including some with check writing features, debit card, and bill pay; individual retirement accounts; retirement plans for small to large businesses; 529 college savings accounts; designated brokerage accounts; equity incentive plan accounts; and margin loans, as well as access to fixed income securities, equity and debt offerings, options, and futures;

  • Banking – checking accounts linked to brokerage accounts, savings accounts, certificates of deposit, demand deposit accounts, first mortgages, home equity lines of credit (HELOCs), and personal loans collateralized by securities;

  • Trust – trust custody services, personal trust reporting services, and administrative trustee services;

  • Advice solutions – separately managed accounts, customized personal advice for tailored portfolios, and specialized planning and full-time portfolio management;

  • Mutual funds – third-party mutual funds through Mutual Fund Marketplace, including no-load mutual funds through the Mutual Fund OneSource service, proprietary mutual funds from two fund families – Schwab Funds and Laudus Funds, other third-party mutual funds, and mutual fund trading and clearing services to broker-dealers; and These products, and the Company’s full array of investing services, are made available through its two segments – Investor Services and Institutional Services.

  • Exchange-traded funds (ETFs) – third-party and proprietary ETFs, as well as separately managed portfolios of ETFs.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a visionary and technically proficient Principal Blockchain Technology Architect to lead the design, development, and implementation of blockchain-based solutions within the financial services sector. This role will be instrumental in shaping our blockchain strategy, driving innovation, and ensuring secure, scalable, and regulatory-compliant architectures that support digital assets.

 
 
 

Responsibilities:

  • Architecture & Design:

    - Lead the end-to-end architecture of blockchain platforms, including consensus mechanisms, smart contract frameworks, and integration with legacy financial systems.

    - Design scalable and secure distributed ledger solutions tailored to financial use cases such as payments, clearing and settlement, identity management, and asset tokenization.

  • Technology Leadership:

    - Evaluate and select appropriate blockchain protocols based on business requirements.

    - Define technical security standards, best practices, and governance models for secure blockchain development and deployment.

  • Engineering & Development:

    - Collaborate with engineering teams to build and maintain secure blockchain infrastructure, APIs, and smart contracts.

    - Ensure high performance, fault tolerance, and data integrity across blockchain nodes and networks.

  • Security & Compliance:

    - Implement robust security measures including cryptographic techniques, identity and access management, and secure key storage.

    - Ensure compliance with financial regulations (e.g., AML/KYC, GDPR, SEC guidelines) in blockchain implementations.

    - Help implement holistic security measures across the cybersecurity program pertaining to the safe development and monitoring of digital assets.

  • Innovation & Strategy:

    - Stay abreast of emerging blockchain trends, technologies, and regulatory developments.

    - Provide strategic guidance to executive leadership on blockchain opportunities and risks.

  • Collaboration & Mentorship:

    - Work cross-functionally with product, legal, compliance, and operations teams.

    - Mentor junior architects and developers in blockchain principles and development practices.

Location:

Schwab’s primary locations are Phoenix, AZ and the DFW Metroplex, South Lake / West Lake, TX. The ideal candidate will be based out of either of these locations.

 
 

The Candidate

Skills:

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills

Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in software architecture, with 5+ years in blockchain technologies

  • Proven experience designing and deploying blockchain solutions in financial environments

  • Experience with DeFi protocols, digital identity, and token economics (preferred but not required)

Knowledge:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

  • Deep understanding of cryptographic principles, distributed systems, and consensus algorithms

  • Familiarity with smart contract languages and blockchain platforms

  • Strong knowledge of financial services workflows and regulatory requirements

  • Knowledge of cloud-native architectures and containerization (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker), (preferred but not required)
